Megan is an international board-certified lactation consultant (IBCLC) with more than a decade of experience serving families in that role. She obtained her first professional lactation certification, Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC), in 2010. She used her personal experience and the training she received from the Childbirth and Postpartum Professionals Association (CAPPA) to teach customized breastfeeding classes and volunteer with the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) supplemental nutrition program. Megan was accredited as a La Leche League Leader (LLLL) in 2011 and held local, regional, national, and international roles during her tenure with the organization before she “retired” from leadership in 2022.
Since giving birth to her first child in 1998, Megan has been an advocate for breastfeeding and its many benefits to parent and child. She informally counseled family and friends for years while working at a career in the publishing field, then decided to pursue her passion as well as a paycheck. In 2014, she was credentialed as an IBCLC and opened her private clinical practice. Megan now teaches writing at Penn State University and also maintains a clinical practice assisting new families with their lactation and breastfeeding journeys. She strives to help parents trust their bodies and to feel empowered by the breastfeeding experience.
Megan has experience helping families with low supply, tongue and lip tie, relactation and induced lactation, sore nipples, breast infection, non-latching babies, and more. She is a proud ally with experience assisting families of all configurations. Megan lives in State College with the youngest of her four children. She is looking forward to becoming a “Mimi” when her first grandchild arrives this summer!
